Stay safe from fake opportunities

  • Government programmes never charge an application fee. Anyone asking you to pay to “secure a spot” is running a scam.
  • Check the web address. Official sites end in .gov.za or belong to the programme itself. SAYouth jobs are only on sayouth.mobi.
  • Ignore WhatsApp or Facebook posts that link anywhere other than the official site, and “facilitators” who offer to apply for you.
  • Officials use work email addresses. A Department of Education official writing from a Gmail address is a warning sign; real ones end in @dbe.gov.za.
  • Never send your ID, bank details or SASSA information to a WhatsApp number.

How the Radar works

  • We search official portals, gazettes, embassy pages and trusted news, then open the official page before listing anything.
  • High confidence means the official page confirms the details. Medium means a reliable source reports it and points to an official page or contact, but we could not read the official notice directly.
  • Status updates itself from your phone’s date, so closed items move to the watch list automatically.
  • This page asks for nothing. It has no forms, accounts, cookies, trackers or analytics, and loads nothing from other websites.
  • Spotted a mistake or a new opportunity? Email radar@namela.org.
